World of Denim
|
Denim is a very stronger and durable material; it is a cotton twill textile where the werf of the material passes through two or more warp fibers that are recognizable on the reverse side of the materials.
Traditionally denim was colored blue by an indigo dye to create that classic blue denim look. The first denim pants were made in 1789 in Italy. The word dungarees are heavy cotton pants like overalls, the first cotton mill was created in 1854. Many people confuse denim and dungarees thinking they are the same but they are not.
More than jeans are made from denim today, pocketbooks, shirts, shoes, handbags. Denim is a very good material and manufacturers know that when they make a product from denim they are guaranteed a great looking product as well as a quality made one. Denim is also available in different colors too.
Aside from the jeans the denim jacket is the second most popular item to be sold. They were at their height of their popularity in the 1980’s. Such pop icons from that decade were Tiffany, George Michael, Debbie Gibson and the band Status Quo. The denim jacket was also worn by the legendary James Dean.
Denim is making a comeback and designers are coming up with more ways to use denim in the fashion world. Denim is affordably priced and for the quality of material, you get a great product at a great price.
