Back in the day, blue jeans were a pair of very durable pants worn by the working class people. People in factories during the Second World War comprised most of the wearers on these jeans. The first blue jeans had a zipper down the front and two pockets in the back. In the 1950’s both men and women wore blue jeans and then in the 60’s teenagers and young adults were wearing them. During the 60’s, jeans became more acceptable and by the 1970’s they were mainstream and became a fashion statement.
More textile mills were beginning to emerge and the jeans became the best selling item in the United States. Soon after, jeans were being imported to other countries as well. Some of the most popular brands of jeans are Levi’s, Lee, Wrangler, Diesel, Polo and Guess. In the 80’s designer jeans were the biggest trend, jeans from Sassoon, Jordache and Gloria Vanderbilt jeans brought new popularity to the jeans.
Today there are different types of jeans; there are ankle cut, loose cut, straight and boot cut. There are Classic jeans, wide legs, skinny leg, bell bottom, low riders and slim fit.
